17 Oct Black History Month Update
We were delighted to welcome former parent Carol David back into school this week to cook with our Year 5 and Year 6 children. Carol led a wonderful session making fried Jamaican dumplings, along with a few other delicious treats that everyone enjoyed tasting!
As she cooked, Carol shared her early memories of coming to England from Jamaica and spoke about how life in Walthamstow has changed over the years. The children listened with great interest, asking thoughtful questions and learning more about the local community’s rich history and culture.
We are so grateful to Carol for giving up her time to spend the morning with us — the children absolutely loved it!
Across other areas of the school, Year 2 have been working on some fabric painting inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat, while Year 3 have been learning about Althea McNish and Olivia Dean, and Year 4 have been exploring their hopes and dreams.
This work and more will be on display across the different halls so while you are in school for parents evening appointments, please do take a look at some of the lovely pieces of work that are on our display boards.
