22 May Year 4 Bring History to Life with Roman Mosaics
As part of their history topic on Roman Britain, Year 4 have been busy channelling their inner ancient artisans. Blending historical research with hands-on art, the children designed and created their very own authentic Roman mosaics.
The intricate process required a great deal of patience and precision. The children carefully mapped out their designs, laying small, colourful glass tiles onto a sturdy MDF backing. Once the patterns were set, they took on the messy but rewarding task of grouting, before carefully rinsing and polishing their work to a high shine. The final pieces are absolutely stunning and display a wonderful grasp of traditional Roman craftsmanship.
