06 Oct Summer Reading Challenge Champions
A group of children from The Winns took part in a borough-wide summer reading challenge this year and emerged as reading champions. As part of this initiative, Walthamstow Libraries monitor the number of pupils who sign up to the challenge as a percentage of the overall school population and combine this with the percentage of pupils who complete the challenge over the summer period. They then award a trophy to the school with the highest overall performance.
Greenleaf have been very successful in this challenge in the past and have secured the trophy for eight consecutive years. However, we are pleased to announce that The Winns triumphed this time round. We were not only successful in being the highest overall performer, but we also achieved the most improved performance. Well done to our children for their fantastic reading efforts over the holidays, but we should also recognise the support of parents who take their children on regular visits to our local libraries and encourage such great reading habits at home. Well done all round.
