21 Apr Library Refurbishment Project & Readathon Final Total
A group of parents and our site staff have been hard at work over the last three weeks transforming our library into an amazing space for our children. Thanks to your generous donations through Friends of The Winns events and fundraisers, we have been able to refurbish the bookshelves, lay new carpet, decorate the whole space and provide a whole host of comfy seating which makes the space even more inviting than previously.
Leader of Waltham Forest Council and former parent Grace Williams officially reopened the space on Wednesday, with some of our student librarians and school council members present, who helped to shape the project. We are already planning phase 2 thanks to the huge sum of £5180 that was raised during the Readathon before Easter. Thank you again to all of you who supported your children by either encouraging them to read or making a donation.
We are thrilled that we have a space that honours the memory of Oscar, one of our former pupils who sadly passed away last summer. The library was one of his favourite places, and we know that he would have loved the transformation, including the almost life-sized BFG! Thank you again to the group of parents (some of whom are pictured below) who have already donated a lot of their time to the project – we wouldn’t have been able to get the project off the ground without your help!
