17 Nov Y6 in Lloyd Park
As part of their science unit Living things and their habitats, our Year 6 classes braved the elements and trekked over to a soggy Lloyd Park to collect a sample of leaves to bring back to school. Here they embarked on an activity to describe how living things are classified into broad groups according to common observable characteristics based on similarities and differences. Our children worked scientifically using classification systems and keys to sort and then identify the leaves that they had collected. Hopefully, the children gained a deeper understanding of the diversity of living things and how they can be categorised into different groups based on their characteristics.
